Modern Foreign Languages
The learning of a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for all pupils. It lays the foundation for learning further languages, fosters curiosity and develops an awareness and an appreciation of our culturally diverse, global society. Our intent is to ensure a high-quality and purposeful MFL curriculum, which enables our children to develop a desire to explore, investigate and understand linguistic differences and similarities between the target and native language. Children are encouraged to develop the confidence to take risks in the language when listening, speaking, reading and writing and extend their knowledge of how language works. Over time, children develop a linguistic confidence to communicate with increased fluency.
The Language Leaders made a short video to show off our school that was shared with our linked French school in Perpignan in the South of France, https://saintetherese-perpignan.fr for them to see. We are hoping for the opportunity of some live links with the school in the future. The French school are busy writing class emails to send to us.
